Puppy Classes
Puppy Classes are suitable for dogs aged 12 weeks to under 6 months. The Club runs a 6 week programme for puppies, followed by automatic progression to Week 4 of the Adult Dog Beginners Classes.
Puppy Classes offer the opportunity for young dogs to socialise together in a learning environment. It's particularly useful for those who have never owned a dog, or had one a long time ago, but appreciate the importance of starting young to ensure a happy coexistence.
Puppy Classes give owners the confidence, knowledge and skill to handle young dogs. A habit that is "cute" while a puppy may turn into a "troublesome issue" when it is older.
Puppy training has long term benefits as it imprints praise rewards and responses for positive behaviour and corrects undesirable traits from a very young age.
Regular attendance at classes helps continue a positive learning curve for the puppy from its litter-mates to the home environment.
Exercises taught in Puppy Classes include:
- Getting attention: Eye contact on name
- Heeling/walking nicely on lead
- Sit on command
- Down
- Stand
- Introduction to Recall
Note: Puppies must be fully vaccinated before enrolling in classes. A current vaccination certificate must be provided when joining the Club.
