New Club Life Member (June 2010)

Those of you who attended our General Meeting on 30th May will be aware that our Club President, Robert Fairhead, was nominated for Life Membership by fellow Life Member and former Club President, Grahame Brown.

New Dog Club Life MemberRobert joined the Club with his black Lab Harry in July 1999 and became a Committee Member in 2001, at which time he also took over as Editor of PawPrints, the Club newsletter. Shortly after this he became an Instructor and he can be seen most Sunday mornings instructing Adult Beginners, but also pinch-hitting in any class that may be short of an Instructor.

Robert set up the Club’s website and email enquiries in May 2006, and has been responsible for maintaining the website’s accuracy since then, a timeconsuming task, as many of you may know.

Robert has promoted the work of the Club and responsible dog ownership for many years through articles he’s written for various publications and through supporting Centennial Park activities, such as the “Can I Pat That Dog” workshop that he and Harry do during the school holidays.  Since becoming President in 2008 Robert has continued to promote the Club

Robert was also responsible for setting up the working party that led to the popular Activity Classes being introduced to the Club. Robert also organises Instructors’ & Helpers’ Evenings on a regular basis to allow people to discuss initiatives, issues, etc. that cannot be covered adequately on Sunday mornings at training.

To fit in with Instructor availability, Adult Dog Beginners starting on 30th May will be a 5 week programme, rather than the usual 6 weeks - our next 6 week Adult Dog programme will start as originally scheduled on Sunday 6th June.
