On Sunday 14th March, with a large gathering of Club Members in attendance, a tree dedication ceremony was held on the Club's training grounds in Centennial Park.

Tree Donation PlaqueAs many Club Members will know, the Club donated $5,000 to Centennial Park for a replacement tree for the huge oak that until late last year was the centrepiece of our Musgrave Ponds training grounds - sadly the old tree was diseased and had to be removed for safety reasons.

The replacement tree, a Live Oak (Quercus virginiana), was planted during the week preceding tree dedication ceremony and on  the morning itself long serving Member and former President, Grahame Brown, turned a ceremonial sod of earth and the Club's donation plaque was unveiled.

The Club's current President, Robert Fairhead, observed, "It will be many years before the new oak is as shady as the old tree, but in the meantime Club Members can take pride in watching the young tree grow and in the knowledge that one day those that follow us will shelter under its shade and read that this centrepiece tree was donated to Centennial Park by the Club."
